The simple compact design leaves no space for extra components which can leak, freeze, burst, lose heat, or simply stop working.

The heat pipes fit directly into the tank. There is only a sleeve inside the tank, so heat loss is minimal.

Because the whole system is on the roof, it is easier to install, which also cuts costs. It obviously cannot leak through a ceiling.

This is a high pressure system. It can be used for city pressure, although it has been tested at much higher pressures.

SR609 Solar System Controller

Gives programmable automatic control over electric backup element.

Lifetime and guarantee

The expected operational lifetime of the system is at least 15 years.

 

The Black & White systems are guaranteed for 5 years, Green & White for 2 years.

 

Electrical components are guaranteed for one year, or according to the manufacturer.

Glass tubes cannot be guaranteed against breakage.

Heat enters as radiation energy through the outer tube and heats the black inner tube. Inside the vacuum there are not enough molecules to conduct heat or cause convection, so heat transfer (loss) is minimised.

An aluminum plate conducts heat to the copper pipe. Fluid in the copper heat pipe boils, the vapour rises to the upper end, and heats the water. The water cools the steam down to under boiling point.

The steam condenses and releases energy, only to run down and take up energy by boiling again.

SR609 Electronic controller for electrical backup element

This is optional, and is mounted inside the house. It is a programmable switch that monitors the water temperature and switches the element on at a pre-programmed time.

The water then gets heated to a pre-programmed temperature. The program can be overridden by using a "manual" button.

It continuously displays the time and water temperature.

The unit illustrated here has battery backup, so it will not forget its settings when the power is off.
